I remember going into one of my first gay bars many years ago in San Francisco. Though in my late twenties, I had only just started acknowledging to myself that my adolescent gay phase was not going to end in happy heterosexual adulthood, that I was going to remain what I had always been but till then had never allowed myself to be, fully. And for the first time in my life, I was happy being who I was.
It was still early in the evening, the bar was practically empty, and the lone bartender was moving back and forth swiftly behind the bar, setting things out, preparing for the Saturday evening crowd which would swell over the next few hours until it became a crush of men.
The bartender was good-looking, and barechested, but it wasn’t those things that kept me in the almost empty bar much longer than I would have stayed ordinarily: it was the sight of the black leather collar he wore around his neck. I kept glancing nervously at him, and at it, looking away, trying to concentrate on whoever was in the bar, but my eyes kept pulling me back to him and that collar.
I’d never seen seen a guy wearing a black leather collar around his neck before, and while no one had ever told me what a collar might mean, it seemed to me I did know, intuitively: the collar—and I don’t know if it was locked on or not—signified that in some way the bartender was owned. And somewhere deep inside me—even though my bondage needs and desires at that time ran to guys being guys together and not to anything connected with dominance and submission or slave/Master ownership—the thought of being owned was sexy, and that collared bartender was the sexiest sight I’d ever seen.
Many years have passed since then, and what amazes me is that I still think a collar around a guy’s neck, identifying him as owned, whether he be a slave, a submissive or a pup, is powerfully symbolic, and very, very sexy.
Now I’m offering for sale a bunch of collars, most worn by models in photo shoots and/or videos, or guys I played with. One or two remain from the stock we used to sell. I’m selling all at considerably better than cost. I'll throw in a small padlock and 2 keys with the lockable ones.
